About Me

About Me:

Kelli Strehlow - Owner/Head Trainer

I’m Kelli; balanced trainer, self-diagnosed crazy dog lady, and someone who has always preferred dogs to small talk. I will write in the first person because that’s how I train: direct, honest, and without the fluff.

I’ve worked professionally with dogs since 2007, beginning as an adoption counselor and eventually shifting into training after becoming a client with my own troubled dog. I started training professionally in 2012, ultimately becoming a lead trainer and general manager for a large training school. Over the course of my career, I’ve worked hands-on with thousands of dogs, specializing in behavior modification, aggression, and obedience.

With time and experience, I made a very intentional shift. While I’m well-versed in behavior modification, I chose to step away from high-intensity aggression work to focus on what I believe creates the most lasting change: building healthy, sustainable dynamics for family dogs. My work centers on clarity, structure, and communication; helping dogs learn how to live calmly and confidently within a household.

Since 2020, I’ve worked exclusively in an in-home setting and intentionally take only one dog at a time. This allows for focused training, individualized care, and true integration into family life. When a dog is here, they are treated as part of our family; not merely kenneled, rotated, or rushed.

I’m based in Mesa, Arizona, where I live with my three dogs: Maddox, Tayzr, and Bugzy. As well as my husband and my three kids, who are all part of the training process. Everyone here has their quirks, but through structure, consistency, and a sense of humor, we’ve found our rhythm. That philosophy guides every dog I work with.

For some background, I have worked in rescue and rehabilitation for over a decade fostering and helping place many dogs in loving homes. I have also competed and titled dogs in Rally, Obedience, Dock Diving, and Toss & Fetch, but most of my clients aren’t looking for titles. They’re looking for calm, clarity, and a better relationship with their dog; plus help convincing the puppy that the carpet is not their personal commode.

If you’re looking for a high-volume or crisis-only program, I’m not your trainer. If you’re looking for experienced, honest, intentional, and deeply personalized work; you’ll feel right at home.

It’s nice to meet you.
And yes—I can help with that!
